DXTs are the Jamis' line of Dual Sport hybrids. Dual Sports have more of a mountain bike look with a suspension fork and knobbier tires.
While not designed for actual mountain biking, Dual Sports include 42mm wide tires with a multi-surface tread able to ride on smoother dirt trails.
The trade off for the suspension fork and tires is extra weight, all Dual Sports will weigh a few pounds heavier than the equivalent fitness bike.
This A2 model is a huge jump up in component quality from the lower priced dual sport bikes.
The drivetrain is Shimano Acera with RapidFire shifters instead of EZ-Fire, and the brakes are hydraulic discs instead of cable actuated mechanical.
For 2021, the DXT A2 features the a 2x compact crankset which simplifies front shifting to just two chainrings. A change needed long ago.
This is a fun to ride, reliable bike that can be ridden on rougher trails than fitness and comfort hybrids.
