Frame and Fork

The Felt Breed 20 frame is constructed of butted, hydro-formed aluminum tubing. The fork is carbon fiber.

The bottom bracket is the newest standard 86.5mm design with sealed cartridge bearings maximum durability.

Shifter cables are full length housing routed internally, as is the hydraulic brake line to the rear brake. The aluminum steerer tube is tapered, with a 1.125″ bearing at the top and a 1.5″ bearing at the bottom to maximize lateral stiffness.

The seatstays on the frame surround the outside of the seat tube instead of just attaching directly behind the seatpost, a design that slightly reduces frame stiffness felt by the rider.

The bike will feel more complaint and smoother, particularly over rough surfaces, because of it.

Drivetrain and Brakes

The drivetrain and brake systems on the Felt Breed 20 are Sram Force CX1 with a 1x11 drivetrain and flat mount hydraulic brakes.

The crankset is Praxis Works Zayante with a 40 tooth chainring and the 11 speed cassette range is 11-42.

The result is a lowest gear combination of 32 front/34 rear, super low for the longest climbs while still retaining top end speed with a 48/11 highest gear.

Wheels and Contact Points

The remainder of the components on the Devox by Felt. The seatpost is carbon fiber, to dampen shock and vibration. The stem and handlebars are aluminum.

The wheels are Devox tubeless ready 650b with 24 spokes front and rear and centerlock brake rotor mounts for Shimano rotors.

Tires are 650x47 WTB Byway and the saddle is from Pro Logo.

The Breeds are available in a full range of sizes: 47, 51, 54, 56, 58, 61 cm.

Ride Quality

The Felt Breed series are true gravel bikes, capable of being ridden harder than any 700c gravel bikes we've seen.

They demonstrate that 650b is the right wheel size for gravel bikes that are being used primarily or exclusively off pavement.

If you are looking for a more versatile bike, something better suited for multi-purpose and multi-surface riding - take a look at Felt's new Broam series as well as Jamis' acclaimed Renegade series gravel/adventure bikes.
